Water Research Australia PhD candidate Kala Senathirajah recently travelled to Paris, France to take part in the UNEP Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-2) on plastic pollution.

Held at UNESCO from 28 May to 2 June, the meeting was attended by representatives from over 185 countries. The main objective was to make progress on the development of a legally binding international instrument to end plastic pollution.

Kala has been researching microplastics for several years through her PhD with Water Corporation and the University of Newcastle on Treatment strategies to remove microplastics from whole of water supply cycle.
