Research is an investment in the future. It benefits the water industry, regulators and, most importantly, the community. High-calibre research is needed to improve operational practice and water industry guidelines, respond to emerging issues, and ensure the continued supply of safe water for our communities.
Today's Student,
Tomorrow's Game-Changer
With 95+% retention rate within the water sector, our student program has gone from strength to strength, building on the foundations of the CRC for Water Quality and Treatment, to help today’s graduates become tomorrow’s water utility managers.
Through the RLP, we are working with utilities and Universities to invest in Australia’s future water research capability and capacity by facilitating a range of scholarships and networking packages, helping students from all science degrees and backgrounds kick-start their career in the water sector.
All of our scholarships and packages are designed to integrate students into water industry organisations, providing guidance of leading experts as they complete their research degree, whether they be a current student or an early or mid-career researcher undertaking further studies as a mature age student.
Our scholarships and packages are also available to both domestic and international students, so no matter where the next game-changer is from, they can be supported through the RLP.

Memorial Awards
WaterRA acknowledges the contribution that devote members of the WaterRA community, Emeritus Professor Nancy Millis AC ME and Professor Michael R Moore, made to the water industry throughout their careers.
In recognition of their accomplishments we are proud to offer two prestigious memorial awards in their honour. These awards are presented annually—one for an exceptional WaterRA PhD student and the other for an outstanding WaterRA Honours or Masters student.
Associate Student Membership
Even if you do not have a scholarship, you can still experience professional benefits through our Associate Student Membership which provides you with networking opportunities.
The Associate Student Membership is a networking package designed to connect Students and Early Career Researchers to industry and like-minded experts. Associate Students are provided opportunities to attend networking events until the funds have been exhausted. These events include WaterRA events such as NextWater, members meetings, AWA Membership, Student Orientation Day, Young Water Professional Conference, OzWater and knowledge sharing of research outcomes by a science video.
Industry Sponsors
