Scope 1 emissions at various treatment processes / sewer networks

Scope 1 emissions at various treatment processes / sewer networks

What do utilities need to do to optimise their treatment plants to decrease green house gas emissions?

Details

Sewage Treatment Plants are considered to be a significant contributor of greenhouse gas emissions and are required to report on these through the NGER Scheme. But what can water utilities do, to optimise their treatment plants to decrease emissions? Better data and information on the impact of various treatment processes, and their contribution towards the release of Scope 1 emissions, would enable predictive modelling to estimate the greenhouse gas emissions and inform decision making around treatment trains and operations.
