Proposed review into legionella implications for industry

April 16, 2019

Legionella in our water systems is an ever-present and potentially growing risk for the industry.

The issue was highlighted at Water Research Australia’s Next Water conference in February by international water quality expert Prof Joan Rose, whose keynote presentation discussed the global challenges for researchers.

WaterRA, along with its members Melbourne Water and Monash University, is proposing to conduct a review of the current knowledge of Legionella in water systems (source, drinking, recycled, wastewater) in Australia and the extent to which we have the knowledge and tools to assess and manage the risks this presents. We are seeking expressions of interest to co-fund this study. Funds can be provided in either the current or next financial year, however we will look to commence the project within two months.
