D-CAT's membership of WaterRA will bring leading remote sensing, image processing, data fusion and machine learning skills to the community, utilising D-CAT’s cloud-based "Fusion Platform" technology and deep understanding of spectral processing for difficult and diverse real-world problems.
D-CAT recognises that advanced earth observation systems, whether from satellites, aircraft, drones or other sensors, offer access to sensor imagery of unprecedented quality with a valuable spread of spectral, spatial and temporal properties that, when fused, can increase yet further the probability of detecting and monitoring that which is important and valuable to the water industry. In addition, many other data sources and types can be dynamically linked with the sensor imagery to create unique and high value-added outputs, such as asset management services.
D-CAT was founded in the UK in 2015 by three highly-experienced professionals to bring their defence and security processing backgrounds to commercial markets previously unable to benefit from high-quality imaging sensors and advanced processing techniques. They created FusionPlatform to deliver affordable new capabilities to sectors such as the water industry and agriculture which require timely, trusted data for decision making.
Member representative, Dr Moira Smith, is CTO of D-CAT. Moira is a Chartered Aerospace and Electronic Engineer, a member of the IET and RAeS, and a recognised international expert in image & data fusion with many publications on the topic as well having co-authored a book on the Mathematical Modelling & Validation of Electro-Optical Systems.
