Water Research Australia held its AGM on October 31st, 2018, which for the first time was followed by an interactive Water Industry Subject Expert (WiSE) event.

Held in Brisbane, the successful event formally welcomed Amy Dysart from the Northern Territory’s Power & Water Corporation to the WaterRA Board of Directors and congratulated Coliban Water’s David Sheehan on his re-election.

The AGM also marked the farewell of industry stalwart Dr Meltia Stevens who stepped down as a Director after eight years with Water Research Australia.

WaterRA Chair, Shaun Cox, thanked Dr Stevens for her considerable and highly-valued contributions to the organisation during her time on the Board.

“Dr Melita Stevens is a legend in the water industry with unparalleled expertise in water quality management,” he said. “WaterRA has benefitted greatly from her professional approach to collaboration and we look forward to continuing valued input from Melita through her ongoing involvement as Member Representative for Melbourne Water.”

Following the AGM, the WiSE event brought together leaders in industry and research to discuss recent developments in:

  • Evaluating Potable Reuse as a water supply option;
  • Using Data Science to transform our sector; and,
  • Managing Catchments and source water quality.
