Water Quality Impacts from Extreme Events presented at AWA FNQ Conference

July 31, 2018

Are you prepared for Extreme Events?

Claire McInnes presented on the project (#1063) led by Prof Stuart Khan 'Water quality impacts from Extreme Events' at the recent AWA FNQ Conference in Cairns.  The presentation covered the key findings from the literature review and case studies that formed the basis of the guidance document available to utilities and water authorities to help prepare for extreme events.

After the recent WIOA Logan conference Whitsunday Regional Council agreed to compare their experiences after Cyclone Debbie with the guidance - and found that it provided useful and practical advice.

Since this review there has been interest in compiling a 'Lessons Learnt' database to share  experiences with other utilities in order for the water industry to learn more about potential impacts and ways to prepare.  If you are interested in finding out more please contact Claire McInnes.
