CEO's Update

January 31, 2018

With January already at an end, WaterRA is gearing up for a busy year in which we will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary with a special event in October – so watch this space for more details over the coming months!

In the meantime we kick the year off with our Members meeting in Adelaide on February 27th. Our keynote speaker at the Members Meeting on February 27th is Mr Lew Owens, who until recently was Chair of the SA Water Board. Lew has a long and diverse service industry background, and will speak on Implications for Regional/Remote/Isolated Communities’ Water Supply of Recent Developments in Electricity Supply Technology - Having recently been involved in reviewing numerous proposals to the SA Government for solutions to the State’s electricity challenges, Lew will make some observations about the possible implications for the water sector on opportunities in rural and remote areas. The three main focus areas for the day will be to update Members on progress with the Company restructure and engage them in strategy development; showcase the achievements of students within the Education Program; and to stimulate reflection on Member needs and opportunities around Regional, Rural and Remote (RRR) water services. Register now, if you haven't already done so!

The day following the Members meeting we are holding a workshop that will further explore RRR knowledge and research needs. Findings from this workshop will shape how WaterRA can assist Members to collaboratively realise opportunities presented by new and emerging technologies and to meet the challenges set by Sustainable Development Goals in provision of fit-for-purpose water. You can register for this workshop here.
