Background and Relevance

The objective of this project was to develop new instruments or methods that can facilitate real-time detection of viruses and can be used to reliably determine virus removal for compliance purposes. Presently no equipment or protocols are available for performing real-time integrity assessments to support compliance monitoring for virus removal. In order to explore multiple innovative approaches within a given budget, this project examined using citrate stabilised silver nanoparticles under a range of conditions, including chemically compromised (aged) membranes.
