The aim of this project was to identify the appropriate sample processing methods for the DNA-based analysis of selected water matrices, and to evaluate or improve DNA-based detection methods for Cryptosporidium, Anabaena and adenovirus. The output of this project was the standardisation and inter-laboratory comparison of methods for the rapid detection and / or identification of microorganisms that were selected on the basis of their importance to the Australian water industry.
