Background and Relevance
To support the introduction of microbial HBT into the ADWG it is being proposed that a Guide to Achieving Health Based Targets in a Water Supply System be produced. The purpose of such a guide is to detail how water utilities can optimise and monitor their water collection, treatment and distribution activities to ensure that they meet the required microbial HBT. The primary emphasis will be on optimising water treatment processes, noting that exercising control over the quality of the raw water entering the water treatment plant, and ensuring that treated drinking water does not become re-contaminated during distribution, also contribute to meeting the required microbial HBT.
