Water Research Australia is proud to be a key partner in the newly launched ARC Research Hub in the Internet of Things for Water—a national initiative designed to accelerate the digital transformation of our sector.
With the support of 40 industry partners, this Research Hub is set to position Australia as a global leader in digital water technologies. But to get there, we need your support.
We are now calling on our members and the wider water industry to uplift WaterRA’s existing in-kind commitment with financial investment. Your contribution will help shape and fast-track projects that directly address your biggest Internet of Things (IoT) challenges—projects you can help influence and guide.
Why this matters
The IoT for Water Hub is more than a research program—it’s a collaborative, problem-solving engine for the entire sector. Its mission is to deliver a future where real-time monitoring and control of water systems supports a diverse water portfolio, strengthens our environment and ecosystems, and engages our communities.
What the Hub will do
The research program focuses on:
-
Sensing and monitoring technologies
-
Data management and interoperability
-
Control systems and automation
-
Governance frameworks and standards
-
Economic and sustainable business models
-
Community and stakeholder engagement
With this scope, the Hub will help the water industry move beyond isolated innovation and toward fully integrated, smart water systems that benefit everyone—from utilities to customers and the environment.
Your opportunity to lead the way
The water sector is already on the IoT journey. But together, we can catapult that progress by investing in this collaborative national think tank and accelerating the development of practical, scalable solutions.
As Dr Richard Johnson, Acting CEO of the Australian Research Council, said:
“With the support of its 40 incredible partners, this Hub has the potential to make Australia a world leader in digital water innovation.”
If your organisation is already thinking about digital transformation, now is the time to act. Contribute to the Hub’s program and help design the solutions that matter most to your operations, your customers, and your communities.
Let’s build the future of water, together.
