ARC-EESep Hub and Water Research Australia (WaterRA) invite membrane plant operators and practitioners from industry and academia, to register for the Joint Membrane Workshop.

This event will feature an expert line-up of international and Australian speakers who will; compare and contrast current operational and management issues, against next generation technologies and research solutions.

The event will include  round table discussions for participants to explore key research needs and questions relating to membrane operations in the water industry.

Topic 1: Membrane validation, verification and challenge testing

Industry: Dr Dharma Dharmabalan (TasWater) - drinking water quality management and membrane technologies (micro & ultra filtration), regulator/drinking water auditor perspectives on membrane validation and challenge testing

Research: Prof Stephen Gray (Victoria University) – new technologies for membrane validation, verification and challenge testing

 

Topic 2: Inland brackish water desalination and brine management

Industry: Bradley Rhodes & Linda Nappa (Veolia) - brine management and dealing with feedwater fouling issues, examples from industry

Research: Prof Xiwang Zhang (Monash) - new technologies for brackish water desalination, new materials to reduce fouling problems on membranes

 

Topic 3: Large-scale membrane facilities – seasonal and intermittent operations

Industry: Javier Artal (AdelaideAqua) & Daniel Bonini (SA Water) - Decommissioning & recommissioning, Managing performance, maintenance and monitoring

Research: Prof Rong Wang (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) - Membrane technology translation: from lab discoveries into operational practice

 

Topic 4: Alternative water sources and the role membrane processes play

Industry: Duncan Middleton (SEQ) - “SEQ Water Grid”, experiences with Western Corridor and Gold Coast Desal

Research: Prof Benny Freeman (The University of Texas at Austin, USA) - international perspectives on alternative water sources and membrane technology solutions
