WaterRA and AWA Renew MoU to Strengthen Research and Capability Building
Water Research Australia is pleased to announce the renewal of our Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Water Association (AWA), continuing our collaborative partnership focused on advancing research, innovation and capability across the water sector.
Together, we will continue to work across our common goals and shared areas of interest, including:
- promoting water research
- supporting capability-building initiatives
- sharing knowledge across the industry
- encouraging participation in research and development programs, and
- supporting a meaningful and valued contribution to reconciliation by the sector.
We will continue to work together to promote R&D excellence and the importance of research to the future of the water sector, as we have done through avenues such the AWA’s R&D Excellence awards, which are sponsored by WaterRA, and provide a standout way to spotlight great research and the impact it can make.
Another important area is promoting career pathways in the water sector. We have been delighted to work with AWA on showcasing these in a number of ways, such as through the Research Manager and Researcher profiles on the AWA’s Careers in Water website, and profiles like the ‘Water Story’ feature on Ortal, from our Research Leadership program. We’ll also continue to work together, and with our members, on First Nations pathways into the water sector.
Events are a great way to bring people together, and we will continue to collaborate on our respective events and training, such as Next Water and Ozwater, working collectively to build capability in the water sector.
We’ll be seeking ways to maximise benefits for members in what we do, through standing together, co-ordinating and working together.
The renewed agreement will strengthen connections between researchers and practitioners, support professional development opportunities, and help translate new knowledge into practical outcomes for the sector.
Together, we're building the capability and expertise needed to address future water challenges.
